Today, March 20, is National Ag Day and March 18-24 is National Ag Week. National Ag Day was instituted in 1973 in order to recognize the contributions of the American farmer in feeding and clothing the nation, and indeed the world! In fact, each American farmer feeds more than 165 people—in the 1960s, it was “only” 25 people.
At Lands’ End Business, we have a special kinship with farmers. Our company headquarters was built in a rural community and we still look out of our office windows on acres of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Many of our employees come from farming families or communities. We know the value of hard work, and we expect our apparel to work hard too.
If you work in agriculture, you need gear that stands up to everything a workday on the farm can throw at you—our workwear line was designed to do just that.
Our cotton duck jackets and overalls are built to resist snags and have an insulated lining and water-repellent finish to keep you warm and dry—great when you're heading out to the milking shed before the sun rises (here in Wisconsin, it's still only around 20°F early in the morning). During the harshest weather, you'll appreciate the total weather protection of our 3-in-1 Squall® jacket, an outerwear classic that's windproof, water-resistant and packed with features that keep out the elements.
Whatever the season, you need pants that are tough but comfortable. Iron Knee carpenter jeans offer stain release and flexibility, with an Iron Knee® inner lining for additional durability. Five pockets and a hammer loop help you keep everything handy when you're fixing machinery. In fact, our entire line of work pants and jeans offers a range of comfort and performance that works hard and feels great whether you're climbing up into a combine, loading produce onto a truck or tending to livestock. And, for the really dirty jobs, our coveralls feature a stain-release finish so the sweat, grime and muck of the workday come out easily in the wash.
With many farmers and agricultural businesses using Lands' End apparel every day, you can rest assured that our clothing is well and truly "field tested." So check out our entire workwear and outerwear lines, and hats off to all the farmers who feed and clothe America, and the world. However you work on the land, we wish you success and prosperity this National Ag Day!
