Today is Arbor Day, an occasion to celebrate trees and everything they do for us: providing habitats for wildlife, producing oxygen, filtering water and fighting climate change. At Lands’ End Business we recognize our responsibility—as a direct merchant and "catalog" company—to take a leading role in managing natural resources sustainably. To quote the founder of Arbor Day, J. Sterling Morton: "Each generation takes the earth as trustees. We ought to bequeath to posterity as many forests and orchards as we have exhausted and consumed."
That’s why we’ve been a partner of the National Forest Foundation (NFF) since 2012 to undertake large-scale plantings in U.S. forests from Wisconsin and Minnesota to California. To date, we've planted almost 1.4 million trees with the NFF. Our work starts right here on our Dodgeville, Wisconsin campus, where we planted an orchard of pear, apple and cherry trees in 2012 and another 50 trees to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2013.
We'd love to hear what your company does to support sustainability initiatives. And, don't forget you can enter your team's volunteer efforts in our Beyond Business contest for a chance to win up to $500 in branded apparel.
