Some companies are doing what they can to leave a lighter footprint. West Paw Design, from Bozeman, Montana, built an entire business around an eco-conscious philosophy. They manufacture pet-friendly products with an eco-friendly edge.
"We divert over 200 tons of plastic bottles into comfy pet beds and durable dog and cat toys," explains Amy.
But their lighter footprint doesn't stop there. A state-of-the-art facility was developed using energy-efficient designs. In fact, West Paw Design's Founder and President, Spencer Williams, was so progressive that he planned the manufacturing facility's back walls to be moved and reused in the expansion, reclaiming 175 tons of concrete.
"We were green long before green became the coolest color in marketing," says Amy.
Every aspect of their business is run with a conservationist's eye, from the limited, recycled paper packaging to their exceptionally low waste - just 2.4%.
Community outreach is also a big part of their culture. The company offers a closed-loop recycling program called Join the Loop®. Qualified products never need to be thrown away. Customers just send back their Zogoflex® dog toys which are then recycled into new dog toys with West Paw Design covering the recycling cost.
"Our dog toy recycling program allows consumers to divert trash from their landfills. It's good for their community and for Mother Earth," says Amy.
We're proud to present this growing business with free Lighter Footprint Polos, made in part from recycled cotton, as winners of our Lighter Footprint contest.
