The confetti is gone and the noisemakers put away for another day. Ready to set some New Year's Resolutions? Here are three ideas to get you started. Have your own resonating resolution? Share it in the comments - we'd love to add it to the list.
1. Get to know your neighbors. Networking stretches beyond social media – get to know the professionals in your own back yard. Who wouldn’t love to count the baker, plumber, car rental owner as their best customer? Lend a hand when they need it. They’ll be likely to return the favor.
"Who better to share stories of good news and bad news with than people in the same boat?" says Andrea, who works at her family's real estate office. "We cheer one another on."
2. Wear your logo. Everywhere. Take a walk at noon, pick up the kids at school, chat with the delivery team. Create a work “uniform” that suits your professional image. Or add a few styles you'd enjoy wearing after work. Just think of the opportunities you have to increase your profile.
Debbie operates Minglewood Farm, specializing in Morgan horses, with her husband, Dave. "People see our logo and ask, 'is there any money in that?' I always smile and shake my head. I'm in it for the love of the work," she says.
3. Give back. Sponsor a local event, from the youth group’s car wash fundraiser to the city’s annual charity race. Find the level that fits and make some noise.
"I don't know where we'd be without the help of our sponsors," says Marlette with OccuPaws Training. "Three mid-level sponsors can help raise the event's profile as much, if not more, than a single sponsor."
